Carnival Cruise Line brings back popular seasonal cruise perk

Valentine’s Day is a special time to cruise with the one you love.

Most cruise lines offer Valentine’s Day celebrations featuring special dining menus and themed entertainment to help passengers feel the love. Couples can add an extra splash of passion to their sailings with special romance packages and intimate specialty dining experiences at sea.

On Carnival Cruise Line’s fun-focused ships, all passengers are invited to enjoy charming Valentine’s Day onboard activities inspired by love including Valentine’s Day trivia, games, and crowd-wooing contests and shows.

For the past couple of years, Carnival Cruise Line has also heightened the romantic atmosphere on its “Fun Ships” on Valentine’s Day with a super-sized vow renewal ceremony at sea led by the cruise line’s Chief Fun Officer, Shaquille O’Neal.

A tradition that started in 2019 before taking a break during pandemic years, Carnival’s fleetwide vow renewal ceremony gets bigger every year. Shaq virtually officiates the ceremony, which gives couples sailing on all Carnival cruise ships the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to each other.

Following the ceremony, passengers can celebrate love and toast to the newly-renewed couples at the onboard reception that features a DJ and a champagne toast. To add to the fun, the event also includes an onboard kiss-cam that spotlights couples on the big screen of the Seaside Theater.

Carnival Cruise Line confirms Valentine’s Day tradition will continue

In a post on his popular Facebook page, Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald confirmed that the cruise line will once again host its fleetwide vow renewal event this Valentine’s Day.

“On Valentines Day the ships will once again have the romantic renewal at sea,” Heald shared. “This will be hosted by our Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal on the Lido and or theatre big screens and is a very special moment for couples to enjoy together.”

Heald also added his own funny quip about last year’s Valentine’s Day celebration at sea that gave his fans a good laugh.

“Last year we sold Valentines Day cards in the gift shops although I am not sure we thought that through as we had a big sign outside the shops that said “Be My One and Only True Love,” Heald joked. “They were selling for $4.00…… Or 3 cards for $10……opps.”

Passengers have lots of love for Carnival’s Valentine’s Day celebration

Comments on Heald’s post show that passengers love feeling the love in the air during Carnival’s Valentine’s Day event.

“We were on the Dream in 2023 for this and it was so special,” wrote Beverly Duncan Meador. “They had a beautiful cake and champagne and there were over 100 couples out on deck for it, most women had on red dresses, as the invite said wear red and meet your sweetheart on the Lido deck. I would love to do that again, it was truly special.”

Another passenger described the fun of last year’s vow renewal event.

“We were on Celebration last February 14 and the Valentine’s Day Celebration was super with dancing, heart pins, Shaq on big screen, cake all by the pool and was super! And Champagne!” commented Jim Mason.

Passengers booked on upcoming Carnival cruises over Valentine’s Day were excited to learn that the love fest will happen again this year.

“Amazing, was hoping you would do this event again, hubby and I will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary on valentines day and excited to be part of this on luminosa,” wrote Christine Morris. “Thank you so much, you have made us very happy.”

“We won’t be buying the deal $10 for 3 cards!” she joked.
